Music Education / Classes

One of the fundamental aspects of our curriculum is the exploration of learning beats using percussion instruments. By introducing students to different rhythms and beats, we help them develop a sense of timing and coordination. This sets a strong foundation for their musical abilities and also enhances their motor skills.

Singing is another important component of our curriculum. Singing encourages active participation and engagement from all students, as they respond to musical cues and melodies. This not only improves their listening skills but also promotes teamwork and collaboration.

Identifying musical style is a crucial skill for any musician. Our curriculum includes activities that help students recognize different musical styles and forms. This not only enhances their understanding of music but also develops their analytical thinking and listening skills. Learning melodic contours also teaches students to identify the shape and direction of melodies, which help them develop a deeper understanding of music and improve their ability to sing and perform.

Finally, we believe in the expressive quality of tempo through movement. By encouraging students to explore different tempos and express themselves through movement, we help them develop a deeper connection to music and enhance their ability to interpret and perform.

Example Lessons

NOTE: The lessons below were examples from a 6-week summer "intensive" music program, so the information was slightly more compact than in lessons taught during the school year.
